About Training Philosophies and Techniques. |
| Al
has cultivated his 15 yrs of professional experience into a
training facility that trains all the way from starting colts to
finishing horses for show or pleasure. Believing that in starting
colts the slow, gentle way, the foundation put on these colts in
the first sixty days is the most important part of any training
program. He typically starts 20 to 30 colts every year for the
outside clients. Al also spends sometime giving back
to youth by Judging for the Western Saddle Club Association |

| Horses run deep in Al’s family background with His grandfather a noted horseman, his father an auctioneer and an uncle having some of the first Registered Quarter Horses ever in South Dakota. Growing up he gained show experience in the open and AQHA shows in Northwest Iowa and Eastern South Dakota. Attendance to clinics by many noted trainers such as
Lynn Palm, Richard Shrake, Pat Parelli, John Lyons and others to learn multiple philosophies and training techniques has been a priority.
Horses in training are kept in large stalls with daily turnout and are generally worked 6 days a week. They are fed race horse oats and an alfalfa /grass mix hay and are kept on a strict vaccination, farrier and worming schedule.
All horses are started in the indoor arena and are ridden outside as soon as their training level and/ or weather permit.
